Sustainability Discount
From 1 April 2026: benefit from a better energy label

What is the sustainability discount?
The sustainability discount, a reduction on your mortgage interest rate, applied from 1 August 2021 until 1 April 2026. Until 1 April 2026, you could receive a sustainability discount on your mortgage interest rate as a reward for owning an energy-efficient home with energy label A or B. From 1 April 2026, your home’s energy label will influence your mortgage interest rate, and we will no longer offer a sustainability discount.
Do you currently receive a sustainability discount on one or more parts of your mortgage? If so, you will keep this discount for the duration of the fixed-rate period of that loan part. Would you like to know whether you qualify for a sustainability discount? Please contact us or your (independent) adviser.
More about the sustainability discount
Have you received an interest offer on or after 1 April 2026?
From 1 April 2026, any energy label may influence the mortgage interest rate you pay.
Still receive a sustainability discount within 24 months
Does your home have energy label C or lower and are you planning to make it more sustainable? If your interest offer or offer for a new fixed-rate period was issued after 1 April 2024 and before 1 April 2026, you may still qualify for the sustainability discount. To receive it, you must register energy label A or B within 24 months of the start of your interest-rate contract. If you qualify, the sustainability discount will be applied automatically. Read here how this works if you are using the moving-home scheme.
For which mortgages did the sustainability discount apply?
For loan parts with a fixed-rate period from 1 to 30 years. For all repayment types, except for:
- Duurzaam Wonen Hypoyheek (Sustainable Home Mortgage)
- bridging mortgages
- loan parts with a variable interest rate.

More about the energy label
Your energy label
An energy label indicates the energy efficiency of a home. A home with energy label A (or higher) is very energy efficient, while a home with energy label G is less energy efficient. An energy-efficient home often means lower energy costs, increased comfort and lower CO2 emissions. An energy label is valid for 10 years. After 10 years, you must register your energy label again. Via Milieu Centraal, you can easily see what your current energy label is and how long it is valid.
Registering your energy label
Not all homes have a valid registered energy label. You will receive a valid registered energy label when buying a home. You can also have your energy label registered by an energy adviser. The energy adviser will visit to inspect your home and will then carry out an energy performance calculation. You will then receive a valid registered energy label.

Why ABN AMRO is concerned with energy efficiency
We find it important for our society to become more and more sustainable. This is why we are developing sustainable solutions, such as the sustainability discount. And this is why we are a partner in 'Iedereen doet wat (Everyone plays their part)'. This government initiative is about taking steps together to make the Netherlands sustainable. Want to join us?
